Dad for Sale

I wrote this piece about 3 years ago, funny how so much has changed for the worse…

This piece was inspired by a recent article in the newspaper….I decided to use dad, it could be anyone in the family

I have a father up for sale, to the lowest bidder…, ok not really sale, you could have him for free and maybe get something on top of that for getting him off our lives…could this be how some of us feel about our parents or even relationships that we have no much control about? Maybe a husband, a child, or even a mother, those relationships that we can’t really just walk out of and nothing will seem to be the same. We wish that things would have turned out different; we wish they would have been different; we wish they would walk up to us and say sorry and quit stressing our lives.

When it comes to friends though it is hard to let them go, though it hurts, the pain inflicted by a blood someone is worse. Sometimes we die in our own families and live in the lives of others instead of the opposite. We are indifferent when it comes to things that should matter and make our hearts ache with hope for a change hope for a difference. We wish we would walk out and never turn, yet deep in our hearts we know that the foolishness of one member of the family should not really cost the relationship of the other six members. We cut them off our lives but a call from a bother or a cry from a sister turns us back to the very prison that we have been running away from.

I still have my dad for sale, it would seem unfair that I am saying this yet there are children who were brought up in families without a father. I am a firm believer of the fact that God fashions situations in our lives, keeping us from stuff or keeping us for stuff. So quit thinking am selfish quit thinking am unfair, quit thinking I don’t care, I do and that is why I can say that not all fathers are dads, not all husbands are fathers, not all fathers are husbands and not all male humans are men, in fact, it is a sad reality that very few male humans are men, very few. So few that young boys growing up hardly have people to look up to and have to look up to personalities like Mandela, who is also a faulty example of a husband or maybe TD Jakes, one they will never meet. TV role models who will never sit them down and advice them on issues.

So who is the lowest bidder?
